Im November 2016 hat sich ein loses Bündnis von Menschen und Gruppen in Kassel zusammengefunden, um die kommende documenta14 (10.06. – 17.09.2017) zu nutzen, an 20 Jahre kein mensch ist illegal anzuknüpfen. Die Kampagne kein mensch ist illegal wurde vor zwei Jahrzehnten während der documenta X als Netzwerk von antirassistischen, migrantischen und flüchtlingssolidarischen Gruppen gegründet und steht seitdem für den Kampf gegen die abstruse Vorstellung und lebensbedrohliche Politik, die Menschen zu „Illegalen“ erklärt, sie entrechtet und (völkischen) Nationalismus in Gesetzen verankert.
Im Rahmen einer Aktionswoche wollen wir zum Einen Raum schaffen, um über eine Kampagne zu reflektieren, aus und mit der viele weitere Kampagnen, Projekte, Camps und Aktionen entstanden sind. Zum Anderen gilt es, die Aktualität zu betonen, sprich die heutige Situation zu betrachten, Forderungen zu erneuern und Aktivitäten anzuzetteln. Wir wollen die Lebenssituation illegalisierter Menschen erneut zum Thema einer öffentlichen Debatte machen und die aktuelle Asyl- und Migrationspolitik kritisieren.
Wir sind eine offene Gruppe, bestehend aus Menschen, die schon 1997 dabei waren als auch neuen Aktivist*innen aus lokalen antirassistischen Strukturen. Gemeinsam kämpfen wir für das Recht zu gehen und das Recht zu bleiben. In Zeiten von Asylrechtsverschärfungen, verstärkter Kriminalisierung von fliehenden Menschen und „Schlepper*innen“, der Schließung von Fluchtrouten und der menschenunwürdigen Unterbringung in isolierten Lagern scheint uns ein gemeinsamer Kampf von betroffenen und solidarischen Menschen wichtiger denn je.
Es bleibt dabei: kein Mensch ist illegal!

In November of 2016 a loose alliance of individuals and groups came together in Kassel to use the coming documenta14 (10th of June until 17th of September) to re-establish the no one is illegal campaign. A network of antiracist and refugee-solidarity groups and groups of migrants founded the campaign two decades ago during documenta 10. Ever since no one is illegal is a symbol for the struggle against the life-threatening politics that declare human beings as “illegal”, take away their rights and reinforce nationalism through laws.
With an actionweek we want to underline the actuality of the campaign today, which means looking at today’s situation, renewing demands and starting actions. We want to bring the living conditions of illegalized people into public discourse again and criticize recent and temporary politics of asylum and migration control. Also we want to create a space open for reflection about the campaign and projects, camps, campaigns that found their base in no one is illegal.
We are an open group consisting of people who already took part in 1997 and new activists. Together we fight for the right to come, to stay and to leave. In times of restrictions of the asylum laws, further criminalisation of fleeing humans beings and escape helpers, the closing of escape routes and the dehumanizing conditions in isolated refugee-camps, a common struggle seems more important than ever.
Still: no one is illegal!
